The contest season is getting closer, and the end of September will be a full three weekends in a row contest party.

  2. Scandinavia Activity Contest SSB 22-23 September
  3. CQ World-Wide Contest RTTY 29-30 September

The lastest ICOM Radio News video is showing K3LR Multi/Multi station in action. At SK3W we will be active. Hopefully as multi op, but still depends on how many interested operators we can gather.

Welding on the 42m tower

29 July, 2007 (22:05) | Audio and Video, Tower | By: sm3sgp

After a minor tower failure at SM5INC, (see previous post on this Blog), we had to do some preventive work to make sure we know the status of our rotating towers. The problem at INC was that the center pin at the bottom of the tower broke, and in some way the tower fell off its base. The tower did not fall down, and was secure in its guy wires. The bottom bearing is made of two plates, the bottom one only laying on the base and the upper welded to the tower. To make sure the bottom part of the bearing is not rotating, some small pins are needed. This was missing on our 42m tower.

On this Video you will see what I mean.

SK3W from above

This video show the antennas and towers from the Ericsson tower. The video shows the four square for 80m, then moves to the left and show the 42m tower following the 60m tower. It later show the antennas for internet connection. This is the first test using YouTube… More videos to come.

Ralle-Palle Pannkaka

SM-Scores

This photo was taken ten years ago, during the days of the Cold war between Sweden and Finland. You can see the OH2HE team (now OH2U), laughing out loud when discussing the SM-Scores and PalleRalle pannkaka contest team in Sweden, SK3GW (now SK3W).

The call-signs are getting shorter and the operators are getting older (bigger and louder?), and there are now peace between the two countries

Here is a small clip from the real Pannkaka show…

NAC 144MHz July

4 July, 2007 (15:17) | Audio and Video, Contests | By: sm3sgp

2m setup

Operated by SM3XIK and SM3SGP. We used the stack only, still not possible to switch in the 15 el yagi. The Gi7b amp worked fine all night, with 500watt on the remote bird watt meter. Some Aurora, but not much activity. As last moth, great pile-up to the south in the beginning of the contest. In the end of the contest, propagation to south (OZ/SM7) died.

Nice to work and hear a couple of OZ on CW. They still need some practice thou… (Maybe MorseRunner ) Watch W0MM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTvXxzBC7EY

Why was the result so good last month? No, idea. Same power and antennas. Looks like the result for July was pretty good as well… Has our competition lost their motivation?

Result, log and statistics HERE!
